How to Make the Best Pot Roast in the Crock Pot

  • Make sure you brown that roast! Heat a pan over medium heat with some oil and brown away.
  • Make sure that roast is dry before seasoning. That's right dab your roast with a paper towel.
  • When searing that roast to brown it, Make sure to brown for at least 4-5 minutes per side. Before transferring that roast to your crockpot.

Crockpot Pot Roast Ingredients:

 4 lbs Chuck Roast
 2 tsp Kosher Salt
 2 tsp Canola Oil
 1 tsp Ground Black Pepper
 1 tsp Dried Thyme
 2 lbs Baby CarrotsWashed & Cleaned
 1.50 lbs Baby Yukon potatoesCleaned & cut in half lengthwise
 2 Cloves of garlic, Minced
 18 oz Beef Broth
 2 tbsp Corn Startch
 2 tbsp Watercold

Crockpot Pot Roast Directions:

Season your chuck roast with the Kosher salt, pepper and thyme.

Heat your pan

Add the canola oil and when it ripples and is hot add in the roast and brown each side for 3-5 mins.

Lay the beef on top, then add the beef broth and cover, cooking on low for 8-10 hours.

Around the last hour, Mix the cornstarch and water, and add it to your crockpot, Use more corn starch for a thicker gravy.

Pour the gravy over the meat and garnish with parsley if desired.

You can remove the sauce and add it to a pot with more corn starch + water to thicken it to your desired thickness.
